FOUNDING PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - 2001
Prakash Phulwani (FOUNDING PRESIDENT 2001)

Dear friend,

Ever since I came to US, I wanted to do some thing for the homeland I left behind. If you are like me, I am sure you have been thinking of the same. It always seemed that my other Doctor friends could do some Cardiac Caths, Endoscopies etc.

On my last trip to India, I realized that India still has the old Load and Run ambulance transport system, and I also found a new wave of Physicians who are eager to establish Emergency Medicine as a new specialty in India. Not only this but they are also very interested in an EMS system close to the one we have here in USA.

I think it is time for us, you and me, to do something to help our country. The first thing we need to do is unite as a group and form a collective body that sets standards of care compassion and Education. Let our purpose be the Development of Emergency Medicine, EMS and education (by establishing standards and teaching) in India. I was invited to write a forward to the first issue of The Journal of General Medicine dedicated to Emergency Medicine. Now I have been contacted for more help, and I need your help.

Thank you,

Prakash Phulwani
